Pastor: Jeff & Teresa ArmstrongPastor Jeff Armstrong and his wife Teresa joined the ministry team at Smithville Church of God on Sunday, May 6, 2012. They come to us from LaFollette, TN where they have served as Pastor and District Overseer for the past 7 years. Pastor Armstrong was born in Knoxville, TN and worked as a machinist before accepting the call to ministry. Teresa was born in Asheville, North Carolina. Her mother and father served as Ministers of Music in various Churches in the Asheville area; Teresa also has been involved in worship ministry most of her life. The Armstrong’s began their ministry in 1985 in Candler, North Carolina as Youth Pastors. They moved to Tennessee in 1986 to take their first church pastorate. Pastor Jeff & Teresa come to us with a rich heritage in the Church of God, both Jeff and Teresa had grandfathers who served as pastors in the Church of God for many years. Jeff has served as District Overseer as well as on various boards and committees in the Church of God. Jeff and Teresa are the parents of three daughters, Tanya, Autumn, and Emily. Tanya and her husband, Brad Brown, live in Quebeck, TN. Brad is a supervisor with Quebeck Walling Utility District, and Tanya works in the home health care field. They have one child, Issac. Autumn and her husband, Sam England, live in Jacksboro, TN. He has served in the Air Force with tours in Iraq and Kuwait. He currently serves in the Air Force Reserve and attends Pellissippi State Community College in Knoxville. Autumn is a stay at home Mom. They have three children Israel, Lilly, and Layla. Emily and her husband, Chris Honeycutt, live in Jacksboro, TN. They have served for the past 2 years on staff at the Lafollette Church of God as Children’s Pastors. Chris graduated from University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, KY. He teaches math at Campbell County High School and is head football coach at LaFollette Middle School. Emily works as Dental Assistant in Lafollette, TN.
Music Ministers: Robin & Emily PhillipsRev. & Mrs. Phillips joined the staff of the Smithville Church of God in June of 2005. They have been married since October of 1997. They have 2 daughters, and 1 son. Robin has a Bachelors degree in Pastoral Ministry from Lee University and is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God. He has been in full-time ministry since 1993, and was a youth pastor for 12 years. Robin is a vocalist and plays bass, guitar, drums, and trombone. Emily has a Bachelor degree in Vocal Music from the University of Tennesse at Martin and is a licensed K-12 teacher in the state of Tennessee. She sings, plays piano, and is a published songwriter. She also sings and records with the worship label Anointed Praise.
Youth Pastor: Chris & Holly MooreChris & Holly have been married since March of 1998 and have boy/girl twins and a younger daughter. They have been active in ministry for 14 years. Chris is an Ordained Bishop in the Church of God and has worked in Teen Ministry for more than 10 years. He has also served in many other works in the church such as music, children, and outreach. Since the family has moved back from Kentucky Chris is now evangelizing as well as active in youth ministry. His other talents include singing and playing drums. Holly is a full-time mom with a background of a Pre-school teacher, Children's Ministry and Teen Ministry. She has been active in drama, singing and choir. 
Children's Pastor: Bethany & Jerry Strait, Jr.Bethany joined the ministry team of the Smithville Church of God in June of 2007. She has been actively involved in children’s ministry since age 10 where she worked with Beth Barnes doing Kids Krusades. Bethany served as the Children’s Church Director at the Manchester Church of God for 5 ½ years. After coming to Smithville, Bethany met Jerry Strait, Jr. and they were married on July 19, 2008. Jerry has also been very involved in the children's ministry of the Smithville Church of God for some time. They are expecting their first son very soon. Bethany has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Middle Tennessee State University and works as a Senior Accountant at AmSurg in Nashville, TN. She enjoys playing the clarinet and was a former TN State Teen Talent winner for woodwinds. Jerry has a Bachelor’s degree in pre- law from Middle Tennessee State University and is currently employed at Bridgestone. 
Church Secretary: Evelyn M. UnderwoodMy husband retired from the ministry in July of 1998 and we came back to Smithville to live. I worked for the Smithville Dress Shop for a few months and then I went to work for the DeKalb Community Bank a few months later. We started coming to the Smithville Church of God and became members of the church in October of 1998. Then in May of 2002 Pastor Donnie Kelly asked if I would like to become the secretary of the church. I told him, after prayer, that I would. I started to work at church on May 28, 2002. I enjoy the work and do many jobs. I love coming to the Smithville Church and the fellowship of the people here. I wanted to go to a church that was involved in many types of ministry and the Smithville Church does that. ~Evelyn M. Underwood
